You will be more happy and be miles ahead on yours skills for side stepping the BSR. If you look at most of the quilts in shows including many of the recent BOS's out there, Diane's fingerprint is all over them. Her influence is massive. She is a really good person too. Really good.

wow ! your the lucky one. I met Dianne once and she was really inspiring ,just to chatting about quilting. I have her book and really need to pull it out again.

I thought I was at a disadvantage and was wanting a BSR soooo badly. Now I'm going to just try working with what I have and do the work !!!

To start with it is called the best teacher when it comes to machine quilting--Diane Gaudynski. Then it is practice and experience. The BSR would be an impediment rather than a help. When I bought my 730 I told them to keep the BSR. It took $1,000 of the price of the machine immediately.

A big major tip: You do NOT put the "pedal to the medal" as we were all taught at the start of the machine quilting trend. You drive your machine (quilt) like you drive your car.....Don't take the curves at 90mph. Also: Your hands always move slower than the speed of the machine. And yes, it also takes practice and a willingness to make mistakes and keep going.

your quilting is just perfect ! I have a janome 10000 that I love , but I never have been able to get my stitches that uniform. I'm in awe , that you didn't use a BSR . Is it practise or machine , that is the most important? any hints on how to achive that ?

I think close-ups are absolutely crucial to get a visual grasp of understanding how things work. I am never hesitant to have anyone look at my work eyeball to the surface. One of my other primo favorites of Superior is the 'Highlights' line of thread. It has a silky look on the quilt that I love.

I really appreciate your high compliment and it means a lot. Thank you :o)
