I live near Eugene, Oregon and for years I have been told I needed to go to a shop located in the 5th Street Public Market called Mindy’s Needlepoint. It is only about 40 minutes aways and go ahead, ask me if I ever went there? Me, who loves and covets all threads and usually seeks them out wherever they may be.
So yesterday I was on a mission in search of treasure in the form of specialty threads that would make my frosting come alive (appliqued frosting that is) and wow did I ever find it! I am kicking myself for not finding this store a lot earlier. Walls layered from floor to ceiling with candy that took the form of thread and all kinds of fiber related material. Color dripping from everywhere. Needless to say I found much more than I needed but I was good and stuck to the priority of my project at the moment.
I am planning a return trip back soon because Mindy’s also had walls, literally walls, of ribbons of all sorts and sizes. It was the most amazing candy store for a needleworker! I should have brought my camera, but it never occurred to me. I will do better next time. This being Eugene, the owner Mindy was very nice and laid back. Lovely person which makes it an even better shopping experience.
I bought every style of “frosting” thread I could find because I always feel it is better to have every option immediately available to me during the creative process. At least that is what I tell myself and my husband.
So for the rest of the weekend I will be playing with my new threads, which to me is heaven on earth.
