Today is my birthday so I have decided to take a day off from my grueling work schedule and ponder my birthday cake choices. A quiet day of doing absolutely nothing is the best present I could ask for.

I’m new to your site as of yesterday. I stumbled onto your site via Diane Gaudyski’s. She sang praises about your hand applique and your machine quilting. I love your blog and have spent the better part of today and yesterday going through the ones since Feb. Your work is incredibly beautiful. I have an insatiable passion for quilts and I am particularly drawn to applique. That said I haven’t done much of either. My piecing is quite bad, to say the least. The harder I try, the worse I seem to get. But I continue to try. As for applique, I haven’t done much at all, but looking at your work inspires me to try my hand at it again. Maybe by the time I get adequate at it, you might be teaching again. Until then I hope to learn much valuable information from your blogs. Thank you for so generously sharing your knowledge, expertise, and humor with us. I hope you get some much needed and deserved rest or at least are able to enjoy your time you will be spending with your children. They grow up and are gone so quickly. Have a great birthday and enjoy whatever kind of birthday cake you decide to have.
