Back From Vacation

I wish I could report I have now finished all of the quilting work I was supposed to do while traveling, but I did not. I did learn one thing while on vacation though….

I can now thread an applique needle, #11 sharp, while in a car over a less than perfect highway surface! How about that eh? I am impressed with myself if no one else is and I admit I am thumping my chest with pride over that accomplishment with my issue of sad aging eyes.

I won’t bore you with travel photos and droll commentary on my family’s trip. Do some of you remember going over to friends and/or family after they had a big vacation and having to sit through pictures that seemed to come endlessly one after another from a rattling projector, or a photo album to be passed around, that bored you stiff until you were ready to run screaming from the room??? I won’t punish you with the electronic version of that routine–yawn. OK, one photo at the top but mercifully it is only one.

So after the vacation ended, reality rears it head and I am still sweating out more than one deadline due to my inability to focus on my quilting while with my family traveling. By the way, are you seeing a pattern of my inability to say “no”  to requests? I am getting much better at it now I am glad to say.

The one great thing about being home is sleeping in my own bed. Isn’t it funny how everyone seems to say the same thing after coming home from a trip?

WELCOME BACK, SANDRA!! It’s lovely to read your blog again. The building in the photo is very cool– tell us about it! Congratulations on your new needle threading accomplishment. Sorry to hear you are feeling stressed about your deadlines; won’t it be good to get that quilt book monkey off your back?

  2. welcome back !!!!!

I think it is great that you didn’t work the whole time , after all it is a vacation !!! It’s amazing (pat on back ) what you can thread when you put your mind too it ! : )

I got my fabric for my rose . I bought three fabrics , I wasn’t real happy with but then I was able to go to Keepsake Quilting on a long weekend (instead of my vacation ) and found the perfect thing !!!!! The backround was a bit of a challenge too. I went to six stores ,looking for green polka dots . No one had that . Funny how you see something and can’t get that out of your head , like nothing else will work , but , I found a great batik I think will work . I think I have what I need and looking forward to doing it ! : )

  3. Ah thanks Frances!

It is the gate entrance to the Japanese Tea Garden at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. I hit every garden along my journey! There are many gardens in this park and you could spend a couple of days seeing all of the wonders this park has to offer. It is my favorite place to go when in San Francisco. My parents took me there when I was younger and it left a huge impression on me back then and never left.

And yes….Having the book done will be a HUGE relief and I can play again :-)

  4. Well Boop, that is what will make YOUR rose your own and unique. I am so glad you deviated for fabric choices. This is how discovery and learning happen and each time you venture out of that “comfort zone” you will gain more color confidence too. Good for you I am so proud. LOL
