No I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth, I am spending all of my time quilting. The more experience I get with quilting on my home machine, the better and more comfortable I become and actually enjoy it. I no longer have to consume alcohol before starting this step and I don’t panic quite the same way I used to before that first stitch. It took time.
When I have a bobble I can’t live with, I stop and pick out the offending stitches and then go forward. Everything is correctable. In fact, in the picture above, in the lower left corner of the quilt are some loose threads I have picked free and today I will go back and fix the quilting. No problemo.
If it were a children’s roll on the floor quilt, I wouldn’t bother. However, for a quilt that I put a lot of time into, I want the level of workmanship that I have already invested in the quilt up to this point to be reflected in the last steps too. Otherwise why bother?
So picture me smiling from ear to ear in the next few days quilting away in total contentment. At least the heat wave has broken and I can kiss the miserable 105 degree days goodbye. In Oregon! Can you believe that???? Oh am I so glad I never listen and did have air conditioning installed in our home.

I so love what you’ve done here! Quilting certainly makes the quilt! I would love to progress to anywhere near your level of expertise…one day…
I have not been able to machine quilt yet. I don’t have the guts! I’m glad the heat wave broke too! I came up to Eugene yesterday in the 100+ weather! All I could say was UGH!!! Keep up the good work!
your quilting , is inspiring , awesome , amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love what youv’e done .
The lace is a nice touch too !
I always thought , once youv’te quilted something , and it wasn’t right , that you had to just leave it and go on , DUH ! I guess because there is so much invovlved , but I can see now that it is a wise thing to do .
The more I quilt the more comfortable I get too, but I’ve never been able to think of anything to do beyond the norm ,never mind that complicated.
The weather here in MA is crappy too ! 19 day of precipitaion in July . The weeds love it LOL !
I finished my ” Garden Party ” and I want to thank you for your help in what to do in the backround . You were right , the stippling was just enough and it gave me courage to finish it .
Have fun quilting . I’m painting walls instead : (
I love what you’ve done. I agree with you.
The more I do the more I want to do right.
You are welcome Boop, sometimes simple is the best answer. With this quilt I am working on, the quilting designs were planned to marry the ‘parts’ together and needed an extra “oomph”.
Our weather knocked out my internet and I just now got back online.
Thank you Linda and good for you! It is a pain to go back and do it right, but in the end I am always, ALWAYS, glad I did.
Marion, My guts for my first time machine quilting came in a bottle labeled “Blue Moon Beer”. I am not too proud to admit it. LOL
Thank you Shelley! I just kept at it until it got more and more comfortable. Doing a bunch of small quilts really helped too.
Sandra, it’s a treat to watch your quilt evolve. This has been an inspiring and informative process. Thank you for sharing. Can hardly wait to see the end result!
I just wish I could share it all! It kills me not to be able to.
