As promised, now that the Houston quilt show is over, I am showing you Jenna’s photo that was accepted into “The Eye of the Quilter” Exhibit in Houston.  For those of you who didn’t know, Jenna is only twelve years old and she decided to enter this photo she had taken of her perfume bottles.

I know I was impressed when she showed me what she had done so I gave her permission to enter and made sure it was OK for someone under 18 to enter with the people at Quilts, Inc.  I am sure Quilts, Inc. would be pleased and supportive that someone so young entered and got in, but I never revealed her exact age, only that she had my parental permission.

I am still really, really proud of her.  :-)

  1. Fantastic Photo Jenna !!!! that is quite amazing for your age.
I have seen professionals that would love to be that good .

Congrats on getting your entry in.

I can see why you would be so proud Sandy !!!

  2. Thanks so much for sharing. A lovely photo !

  3. Big congratulations to Jenna! Wow – 12 years old, just amazing. Jenna is exceptionally talented. I thought it was from a magazine, it is so professional, makes me want to go out and buy the perfume. Jenna has definitely got the “artists’s eye”.

Superb. This is professional quality, Jenna. I shared this with my family; we are all quite impressed. Did you use your Mom’s Nikon D90? Congratulations. Excellent photo.

  5. Jenna – your photograph is wonderful and quite artsy! It’s no wonder the Quilts, Inc folks accepted the photo into their Eye of the Quilter exhibit – the way you set the photo up is very mindful of all the good qualities one wants in a quilt. Its colors are very pleasing, there are different values, there is repetition in the shapes, and you have created a very artistic reflection element (like a sunshiine and shadows deal) with the mirror images in the surface the bottles are sitting on. (Did you do that on purpose, or was that your subconscious at work?!) That adds even more depth to the repetetive element! Many congratulations – I think you have a future in the art arena somewhere. Of, course, you have a wonderful mentor in that department already thru your mom! Best of luck!

  6. Congratulations Jenna! It’s true the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree!

    Best Stitches!

  7. Thank you all for such encouraging words to Jenna, she went off to school this morning feeling pretty darn good!

Frances I did let her borrow my Nikon camera the day she took that photo. I let her borrow it whenever she wants now!

She has that gift for composition that you can’t teach.
