Only a quilter that uses freezer paper can fully appreciate my new toy. I use a LOT of freezer paper and I was on the look out for something like a paper towel holder that would be more organized and a bit more appealing aesthetically in my sewing room than the over-sized blue box it comes in laying around my work area most of the time.
Tearing off a piece cleanly from that big obnoxious blue box is also a bit of pain too. So hmmmm, what would be a solution? I thought about paper towel holders but their width hardly accommodated 18″ wide rolls as is the case with freezer paper. I happened upon this gift wrap holder, roller and cutter while cruising the web. There it was, like a ray of sunshine, “18 inches wide” (cue the chorus of angels). I was absolutely giddy.
It came last week and I am so loving it. I can use it on the table top, mount it under the cabinet, or mount it on the wall. Brilliant. There is no sharp blade, but allows me to tear off some freezer paper with a nice clean edge. I am in heaven. I think this is a hand applique lover’s kind of toy joy, at least for those of us who use lots of freezer paper.

Don’t you love new toys?

Hey there – how long will an 18″x150′ roll of freezer paper last for you? (I’ve always lusted after a 36″ roll of white craft paper – your reference had me roaming on the net and I found better prices on the dispensers at discountschoolsupply.com…)
That is sooooo cool ! I know this is a must for my Santa list ! : )
That’s exactly the type of thing that makes my day!
Michele I pounced at first sight. LOL
It depends on the project how long it will last. I think I have used two in the last year. I experiment a lot.
Glad to pass on my toy joy Boop and Vicki!
Michele has me thinking that it would be nice to get dispensers for my other large roll papers. Have them mounted nicely in a column on one of my walls in the sewing room, instead of having them stacked and falling over in my closet. hmmmmmmm…
Thanks Michele, I think.
Yeah… you’ve lit my fire again, too, damn it! I’m lucky that my “studio” is just now coming to realization and I can still affect the layout. BUT, that would take away from where I was thinking of putting up a design wall. Hmmmm……
BTW, I took that applique class on Monday evening – I think I’m ready to jump in. Will get that Pacific Rim project going. I have realized that I am AFRAID to try this technique, but not sure WHAT I’m afraid of… I don’t think I’m afraid of failure so much as I’m afraid of success! And that just doesn’t make sense! (I think maybe I need to up my meds…) Heavy sigh…
Hey Michele-
Meds can be good. Better living through chemistry right? LOL
Ok Michele get ready……are you sitting down?……
I have NO design wall. True.
