I have always had to be dragged kicking and screaming (if they could catch me) when a camera is in my immediate vicinity. I literally run in the opposite direction of where the camera lens is pointing. I have made many a camera guy really irritated (understatement) at me in my time.
However, if I am approached for a picture of just my quilt, that is a different story. Over a year ago, when Poppy Soliloquy won the Best of Show in Seattle, (thank you to elite judges Yvonne Porcella, Anita Shackleford and Diane Gaudynski), I was approached by Quilter’s Newsletter Editor Irene Berry for me to send my quilt to them for photography for the magazine (the cover quilt was also exhibited in that show).
With the new buyout and staff upheaval at the magazine, I didn’t think much of the possibility of my quilt’s picture ever making it out of the archives and into print. In all honesty, I never really think about this stuff anyway, so it had already been forgotten for the most part.
Wednesday I received my complimentary copies of the magazine. I was quite pleased to see a detail photo included in the table of contents besides the photo inclusion in the monthly “Quilt Show” spread. The quilt is a bit washed out in color, but this is one of those things that happen with printing.

Poppy Soliloquy has a new owner now so as soon as it is done going off to its remaining scheduled photo shoots (someone else’s book as well as my own), it will be gone from my possession forever and it will be nice having this as a keepsake of the quilt for my scrapbook.
Oh and I still run away from cameras. I am really fast too!
