The “Tea with Me” Project
With an injured hand and having my thumb in a splint, I completed the remaining two thirds of this sample for the Seattle Workshop in March. Was that bad timing for an injury to occur or what? Sorry folks, the machine quilting is not the best and it looks like I was drinking while sewing the teacups (maybe I was a little), but hey, not bad for working with one’s thumb in a splint and injured hand tendons on a home sewing machine eh? LOL
So for all of you who are signed up for the Seattle, “Tea with Me” workshop, this center block will be our project for the day.
Remember the yo-yo’s I was posting about earlier? Isn’t it fun how they add some texture and whimsy to the overall design along the binding? I love yo-yo’s. I don’t use them often enough. Probably because I could easily go over the edge and use way more than I should and it would become one of those “needs editing” issues. They look like little piles of jam to me. I always see food in fabric. I don’t know why.
Everyone have a good weekend!

DARLING! Absolutely Charming! I’ve never been a yo-yo fan, but now I want to eat them! LOL.
Thanks for sharing!
What a masterpiece, Sandra! I think the yoyos and the quilting on the border really bring out the beauty of the center block. Now, may I have a cuppa of what’s brewing in the teapot?
Why certainly Ivory Spring, would you like on lump or two? busicuit?
Melanie, I think it is all about the right project with the right technique and then with a restrained hand. I think it is that vintage soft look of yo-yo’s that draw me in. I won’t be adding any to Jason’s quilt.
Absolutely gorgeous. Hope you will consider making this a pattern for purchase.
I could not imagine what you were going to do with the yoyos. So lovely.
Beautiful! Love the way you have used the yo-yo’s, just the right touch. Will you be working on Jason’s Pumpkin Quilt soon? I cannot wait to see the progress.
love the yo yo’s ! your tea pot is just too cute !
I’m sure your class is going to love doing this project.
Your quilting looks a lot better than mine even with a disability !
Denise, I hope to get back to Jason’s quilt. Preparing for workshops takes 3 months of advance preparation–no lie! So until I have all of the kits completed and every duck in a row so everyone has a good experience in class, Jason’s quilt has to wait.
I should be back at work on the quilt after the first week in March. Nothing on my calendar but to applique and create Jason’s quilt. I will return to my “cave” as my daughter refers to the sewing room. LOL
Boop, I am starting to think of the teacups as my “drunken teacups”.
This sample quilt will always be a reminder to me to– never insert hand while mixer is in motion!
Embellishments are always best when used in moderation. You can quote me.
Thanks Sara! I have contacted you.
