I Found More Background Fabric!
Almost daily I receive requests asking where to find the background fabric for the Wren and now, the Goldfinch. Even though Lakehouse Fabrics has included this print (“Antique Script”) in three series of the Teatime Florals line, it’s still hard to find. You know, I should seriously get a commission from this.
Anyway, I was doing my morning fabric surfing and saw that Shabby Fabrics had re-stocked since, like yesterday? Get it while you can. I bought 2.5 yards originally for the completed quilt (most still in my head). 2 yards should be adequate as you don’t have the do-overs I do in designing and have to re-cut for more than one mistake.
If you are following along and making your own blocks from the Naturalist’s Notebook series as they are created individually, this is the main background fabric I am using for my blocks.
UPDATE: 10/15:
Shabby Fabrics: Antique Script Fabric SOLD OUT
Hollyhill Quilt Shop SOLD OUT
Desperate Quilters SOLD OUT
Snowy River Quilts SOLD OUT
Good luck and no pushing or shoving!

I did too . I posted the link a few days ago in , “Companion Fabric Choices ” post . So if there is a run on it there’s more out there !
woops, the brain failed me again, sorry Boop. How did I miss that???? See what happens when too much is going on? Yikes.
I don’t care where we get the information…thanks again to boop for letting me know where to get this fabric the other day…my order went in immediately….I hope that they stocked plenty for all of us…again thanks for the fabric outlet information. Now as I look and the Wren and the Goldfinch I am on the lookout for fabric that will look as natural as Sandra’s.
I will trade you failed brains ! LOL ! yours still works better than mine !
I found the Tea Time Florals Calligraphy at http://www.hollyhillquiltshoppe.com. This is getting very hard to find. Sure hope the manufacturer would consider printing this particular one again.
Thanks Stitches. We need the quilt shops to order more and create a demand or it is not cost effective for the fabric company to print in advance. I think a lot of them print based on pre-orders from shops at market. If the line doesn’t sell or go over well at market, it may get dropped.
Somtimes it takes awhile for a fabric from a line to catch fire. When it eventually does, we may miss the window for printing more. I think this may be the case for the antique script fabric. Hard to say.
Hi Sandra and ladies.
What a great surprise to find that you had found some more of the fabric, when I logged on today after 2 weeks absence (not by choice, emergency abdominal surgery). However was not able to open your post, Sandra, or find the fabric on the other sites. Please help, help.
Will now go back to the earlier August blogs and see how the “Goldfinch” is coming along
Brenda,
Um, I believe it is now sold out at Shabby Fabrics. I went and checked the link and thought, “that’s wierd, it worked yesterday”.
I went and checked and yes, sold out. Did I say, I should get a commission? LOL
Brenda, you are OK now right??????
Ordered mine last night from Desperate Quilters, so they are now three yards less! Thanks!
No grackles, please. Woke up this morning to a huge flock decimating the offerings at my feeders. At first glance, all I could think of was Alfred Hitchcock! They’ve been here all day. Hope they don’t come back tomorrow. The cardinals, chickadees and blue jays were holding their own, tho…
Yeah for the good birds! I had a huge flock of Nuthatches fly in and stay awhile in my climbing rose (it is huge). there were a few babies and they were so tiny and cute! I was mesmerized.
Eventually some awful birds swooped in and then scared them away. Maybe it was your Grackles?
Nope – grackles still here today, tho they didn’t fly in until after noon – not sure why, tho, as they had emptied everything yesterday – suet and all. I didn’t restock, and won’t until I know they’re not coming back! My regulars will have to fend for themselves for a day or so…
