I am still processing everything I saw and experienced and have much to share. Some good and some…well….hmmmm. However, I thought I would share my quilt’s display for those of you who couldn’t attend. I saw many fabulous quilts on both the “art” and traditional sides of the aisles and have taken photos to share with you throughout the week.
Turning the camera on the quilters viewing my quilt and telling them to “smile!”.
I want to thank the many quilters who stopped by my quilt and talked to me. I love sharing what I do with others and hopefully bring them over to the dark side of handwork, or for non-quilters, let them enjoy the epiphany that TRADITIONAL style quilts CAN be ART. I will explain those capitals later.
To my fellow large award winners, It was a joy to meet you and an even bigger joy that we all supported each other in our achievements and experience. You made it a very special festival for me and were the class act of festival by your examples.
Fairfield Processing was absolutely wonderful in their support of my quilt winning the award they generously sponsored and I owe them a huge thank you for their enthusiasm for my work.
I truly appreciate all the well wishes many of you have sent by email and I will respond as quickly as I can!
The home’s condition is, um……., yikes. I think you can relate to a husband being in charge for six days. He tried his best, bless his heart.
Now back to reality.

It was wonderful to meet you and your quilt! You were having such a good time basking in the adoration…. My book will be here sometime this week – I hope to see you and Jason’s quilt next year.

Congratulations!
I am home too ….and know what you won …. finally!
Interesting that Houston showed a swing back to gorgeous handwork and traditional style …. so did our state exhibition in Adelaide, South Australia. We also noticed a stronger interest in our demonstrations of hand techniques …. several different methods of piecing, applique and quilting!
Once again, congratulations on winning a wonderfully appropriate award for your work. And thank you for sharing so much with us.

Congratulations! A beautiful quilt and such a talented artist.
Sandra, congratulations on a job well done. I wish I could have been there to see it in person. Your work just keeps getting better and better. Maybe I’ll see you at Paducah this year. Look forward to seeing your book too. Congratulations again, you are a master indeed. Best wishes, Linda Ross (diane g’s class)
Oh! Thanks for the pictures…..you award is well deserved! Sandy
YippppppEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! and congrats to you !
I knew you would get the recognition you deserve !
Good to have you back here !
Thanks for posting the picture and again, congratulations ! I know you have mentioned that you do not like to have your picture taken, but would have loved to see you smiling in front of your gorgeous quilt.
As I watched you (through this blog) make this quilt I knew it was something special. Now the quilt world knows too. Congratulations. Outstanding job. Hopefully, you’ll have anew one next year at Houston. I think I get to go! Best wishes.

Congrats again, Sandra! You have inspiring many with your beautiful work!
WooHoo for you and all the other talented and dedicated hand-needle artists! I am devouring your book this weekend. Congratulations!
Thank you everyone! It may sound corny (OK it does sound corny) but it is TRUE…..
Without the support and friendship I receive from all of you, I would have bowed out of quilting for good. You all demanded I enter the quilt again and I did. This is as much a win for you as it was for me. You are the best!
Sandra,
My win was finding this blog of yours! And a band of happy people willing to nag you to keep going.
By the way, while I was being patient because I didn’t know what prize you had won, I became the owner of some Scissoroos. They are so cute!

Sandra,
I felt so honored to get to meet you in person and to see your quilt in Houston….It was just as beautiful as I expected it to be from reading your book ( which I did from front to last…trying to remember all the wonderful information that you shared with us)
I have told all my friends about getting to meet you in person and about this site and of course your book..I felt like a groupie but was thrilled to get to met you in person…now if I could only attend a class by you…please do not give up sharing with all of us. Your hand work is unbelievable in detail and perfection.
Pati,
I loved being able to meet you! I was at the Superior booth and no Pati. It is always difficult to carry on a conversation around my quilt and I wanted to talk to you more. It is always amazing to me how crazy everything gets at a show even when one has a plan. The plan is the first casualty. sigh.
