I am so glad I asked this question! Overwhelmingly through comments and emails, lots of emails, you want something challenging.
Excellent news although you may be saying a few burning words about me when you get to working on those buds. I need to stop listening to the quilting industry messages (media, shows, companies) that everyone wants it “simple Simon and elementary”. You are rebels just like me! How wonderful.
How could I have ever second guessed you? I shall punish myself with another rosebud. And for you, my dear friends, give yourselves a pat on the back and throw in a box of chocolates. you deserve it!

I have the bud in the original picture (above) finished and I have inserted a dime this time for a better scale comparison. I will not say these are exactly “fun”. However, they must be done. In all honesty, I really had to push myself through these.

Another Rosebud finished.

I really do appreciate the honest feedback. I really want you to love what you creating and after all, it is all of you who inspired me the creation of this ongoing series.

OH PLEASE!!! Eye rolled implied.
That is why everything is simpled down!
Because we are so simple minded that we (quilters) must have everything made easy or we will not spend any money that our simple husbands give us!
We can get simple anywhere and everywhere.
Bunch of donkey’s behinds.
In previous blogs you’ve lamented that the thread, fabric & in general, quilting industry aren’t listening to you when you suggest things. Well, I guess we have all proven that theory! Glad we could help you in your/our quest for something else! Can you hear my rebel yell?
I’m a little late getting in on this discussion but I for one do not want simple simon. I want a challenge. I want a piece that I spend hours on, I want a piece that pushes me beyond what I think I can do. I want to improve my skills. The quilting industry/magazines, etc. are not challenging quilters. I no longer buy magazines because most if not all the patterrns are quick and easy. Take time to make that really special piece. You will feel SOOOO GOOOD! I’m 69 yrs old and I still want to learn more.
Can’t hardly wait for the next NN block. Take care of yourself and don’t let us push you too hard. Your work is magnificent.
Charlotte
As for the quilt industry message, I still maintain that there should be a drinking game for quilters on Saturday morning. Every time you hear the words ‘quick and easy’ on a sewing craft program, take a sip of your beverage of choice…..
Sandra, so amazing. Such beautiful, impeccable work. Must have you added to the UNESCO World Heritage list!!
Oh Tammy, as always you made me laugh! You forgot to mention that we aren’t young and tech minded (supposedly). Don’t get me started. LOL
Gloria, Loud and clear! You go girl!
Oh Mary! Spurts of laughter (and liquids) from my sewing room. I’m game
Ah Frances, as always you are way too kind to me.
I also forgot to mention that we can and do make our own money!
Give us all a mothers little helper and pat her on the head.
and Mary – please come to my Applique Society meeting – some of us could use a little nip!
I agree completely with Charlotte… there is nothing like a good challenge and the great feeling of accomplishment afterward! Your little buds are beautiful! Thanks for your lovely designs…
After the purple finch eye, the rosebuds should be “easy”, right??? Thank you for creating such beautiful patterns.
There are lots of appliquers out there who say, “I CAN’T do that!” Those are the ones that never move ahead with their abilities. There are also those out there that say, “Boy, I WANT to do THAT!” Those are the ones who move ahead and really learn something new.
My first applique class was with Elly S. Do you think I would have continued doing applique if I had said “I CAN’T do that?” Absolutlely NOT!! I said “I WANT to do that!” I LOVE a challenge!!!
I happen to be slightly demented, and therefore LOVE dimensional applique. –Now, that too is a challenge!!!
Thanks sooo much for your wonderful patterns!!
Denise, LOL!
Dearest sandra
Can we just say “Simple” and leave out the “Simon”?
Please keep teaching and challenging us.
I,m late chiming in, puter meltdown, and just got the new one. I also no longer buy quilting magazines, to simple and no challenges for me in them. I love your work, the more complicated and life like the better I like it. Keep challenging us, I love it
