Start Your Engines…..

by Sandra | April 29th, 2012

For those of you following along on the Naturalist’s Notebook blocks, you know how MISSION IMPOSSIBLE it is to find the background fabric if you don’t have it.

After a frustrating response awhile back from Lakehouse, it looks like maybe they listened to us after all?  Guess what is coming out in May through June? Yep, you guessed it, The Script fabric I have been using for the NN blocks!

"Penelope 4" #LH03014

Now is the time to contact your local shop and have them order it if they can. I have already put in my request for a bolt. Lakehouse is notorious for “once it is gone, it is gone” unless they get a massive order, they don’t re-print.  We bought out every brick and mortar and online shop and yet that wasn’t enough to spark a reprint back then.

The Wren nicely agreed to model the background for us although it is a bit washed out in color.

So start your engines, do your shopping warm up and then get ready to run like it is the last Black Friday sale for 100 years if you want this fabric. Now I must get back to the Titmouse block.

  1. That is the most awesome news!! I have *some* but I think I’m ordering *some* more just on principle. Wouldn’t it be so funny if NN quilters wipe out this second printing, too?? yippie!!

  2. Thanks Sandra for the info. on the script fabric.
I’ve been trying to find it in my area with no success … now I can see if any of the stores can order it! – fingers crossed : )
    thanks so much,
    Pam

  3. Sandra,
Do you have the item # for the fabric? Thanks!

  4. I’m on it! I started the series late…but guess what I had 3 yds of the background just waiting for an idea. I am on a roll. Thanks for your wonderful designs and inspiration. I first saw a quilt of your at Houstan and assumed it was painted…there were others that were painted in the show. While browsing the internet I found you again. No paint going on there or at Houstan either. I am soooo happy.

  5. Eileen, the number is just below the picture of the script fabric. You didn’t think I would leave that out did you? ;-)

  6. Karen, that would teach them to take us seriously huh?

  7. Carol, I am happy you are happy. LOL

Nope, no paint. If I want to paint, I will use a canvas thank you very much. The challenge for me is to paint with FABRIC. What a revolutionary concept eh? ;-)

  8. You are welcome Pam! I have a bolt on special order. That fabric is not going to get away this time. wha ha ha ha

  9. Hooray! Thanks, Sandra, for the great news about the script fabric…. must order some. After an intensive on-line search last autumn, I was able to get 4 yards… from Sweden! Thank goodness the shop owners spoke beautiful English. I guess all of us doing NN have been searching everywhere for this sensational fabric. Smiles!!! :)

  10. And my search brought fabric that was a darker print to my door than expected. Guess that will be a back or some pillows or somebody else.

  11. how much fabric do we need for the background for all of the blocks?

  12. Two yards should be enough, if you want extra, and I mean extra, 2.5 yards will do.

  13. THANK YOU!!! If any one could do this it would be you Sandra! I will be calling quilt shops today to see if they will please order this fabric.

  14. I also need the number for the fabric. Thanks. Vicki

  15. Victoria, the number is below the picture of the script fabric in the post. “Penelope 4″ #LH03014

  16. I love how your wren looks on the fabric, I will have to see if I can find it in our local shops. I saw some but it wasn’t as nice as this one.
