I am back from my splendid week at summer camp (aka Empty Spools Asilomar). I had such a wonderful crazy group of students and I still hurt from all of the laughing. The workshop could not have been better–Thank you!
The Tufted Titmouse was so well received and I sold out of them. Not to worry, dear blog followers as there are more where they came from. I stuffed enough plus a few extra for the trip and I will stuff & package all this week so they will be up and ready for you to order on Monday, June 10th along with the fabric kits.
I did want to take a break from all of the paperwork that piled up in my absence and give you another peek at the Layout to date of our Mystery Applique quilt (Naturalist’s Notebook).
I am showing it below with Poppy Soliloquy in the center as an example. Next year’s Asilomar workshop will be based on this design (not duplicated) and it will be designed for the center panel of the Naturalist’s Notebook Mystery Quilt Series.
I have also created some applique thread kits using Superior’s Masterpiece thread bobbins to match the fabrics in the kit and they were VERY popular. I thought they would be a convenience for some and now It has been requested I make them up for the other kits as well.
The bobbins hold approximately 80 yards of thread and are a lot cheaper and travel better than large spools of thread. In the original packets I did not include the basic colors of green, black and white because we all have them and I knew the students would have the colors in the thread they brought to class.
However, in the future I think I will include these just to keep the size and completeness consistent. The original kits (without those basic colors) I sold for $12.00 which compares to $50+ dollars for full spools.
The embroidery floss is still on backorder and as soon as it ships, I will have those kits for you too. However, I am not going to put everything on hold waiting for the floss or you might wait forever! As the Cosmo gains in popularity, I have to wait for the distributor to catch up.
The Lakehouse background fabric has started shipping to the shops. The shop who has stocked multiple bolts is Quilting by the Bay in Panama City, Florida. Tell ”Sandy” you want the Sandra Leichner background fabric and she will know exactly what you are talking about. You will need approximately 2 yards.
The fabric is printed a tad bit uphill in relation to the grain so to make sure your script lines up nicely in all the blocks, you will need a little extra to play with.
