Do I hear applause or groans of, “it’s about time!”? I really wish you could see this one in person because it turned out really good.
For those of you who have made it through the last two grueling blocks, this one should be a breeze! There are no specialty threads needed on this one other than the Cosmo floss but I do give you DMC substitution colors.
I am busy getting all of the printed material put together and off to the printer so the pattern will definitely be available before February 15. I am waiting for the fabric orders to come in and I will get started cutting kits and all should be ready for you soon.

Cosmo (Lecien) is moving their offices back to Japan so it may be a bit more difficult now to get the floss. I will see how it goes. The stuff is wonderful but it is a big pain in the backside to get it! I used one of their variegated colors for the lichen on the branch.

Time for another layout-to-date visual. I have added the illustration of the center Poppy block because that is next on deck as soon as the Nuthatch pattern and kits are packaged up.
I had better go out and re-fill my bird feeders. I have had so many new birds I have not seen before this winter and they are fascinating to watch and to use as live models. All I have to do is look out my sewing room window.

AMAZING!!!
The bird is just so beautiful. I cannot wait for the pattern and put me on the waiting list for the fabric kit too. Will you have the Cosmo floss kit? I am actually eagerly waiting to work on the berries.
AMAZING! I can’t wait. Your work is the very best and with your help I have pushed myself to improve. I dream of berryies and eyes.
OUTSTANDING!!!
The nuthatch is wonderfull, and the berries, wow, love it
Carol I am assuming that “dream” means good? LOL
Can’t wait. If you don’t /can’t do a fabric pack for this block, will you identify what you can?? I haven’t been able to figure out the branch fabric – AT ALL. grr. The embroidery really sets off all the fabrics, but the branch is transformed.
What a goofy thing for me to be fixated on… sorry – all the detail work is just magical.
Are you back from the printers yet??
Stunning realism. The berries pop right off the block. 3D effect is incredible.
Is it cat tested and approved?
Janet
You are spectacular and so is this block. I can’t wait to start on it. Thank you so much sharing your incredible artistry and talent. You are the best!
Oh Sandra,
You have done it again. What a beautiful block, don’t know that I am keen about all those berries.
Janet, Why yes, yes it is by three cats! One of them slept close to the work desk to keep an eye on it. The stupid bird wouldn’t move!
Brenda, I was kinda thinking that before I started, but now? Give me more! I really really like direct applique-ing them instead of messing about with prep stuff.
Thank you everyone for the kind affirmation. I am now pumped to get busy on the Poppy block!
Karen, I will have the fabric kits. As soon as I know I have a good supply of the fabric, I will put up the list by the pattern. If I reveal it too soon, I can’t get any of the fabric since I buy it retail like everyone else. It will be sold out everywhere within a day!
Wow. As usual, beyond compare! You are, hands down, the best. Stunning design and utterly masterful applique/embroidery. What a privilege to see your work.
This is such a beautiful block and love the detail and realism in your pieces.
Debbie
Wild applause! I must get busy and finish the block I am presently stitching…. can’t wait to get the new pattern and try your technique on those exquisite berries!
Wow! What a gorgeous block. I like that the background has the writing on it.
I am so excited. I am putting my order in now! I have already been auditioning fabric. Can’t wait to get started. Have been going thru withdrawals.
All I can say is I can’t wait to order the kit! Sign me up, even though I haven’t finished my others, lol. You are truly amazing Sandra!
Sandra if you ever take that block, or the entire finished quilt outside … I think the birds will be trying to pluck those berries off! and the birds you have created will have the real birds confused! You make them so life-like it is unreal! BRAVO
Absolutely stunning. Can’t wait to get the pattern.
So lifelike! Great job. You’re the master!
Once again you have outdone yourself. AMAZING!!
The 3D effects are simply amazing…can’t figure out how on earth do make the berries so berry like. The bird is great as birds go, but sorry they have never been my thing, my kids have to rescue me when they fly into the house or green house ;-p Said that – the design os marvelous

Oh, and you do give me the best screen backgrounds in the building!
Lets me look at the picture and study them a bit too!

Glad I could oblige Tammy!
