What can I say? The entire Australia experience was so wonderful it seems like it was all a dream. The ladies in my workshops were so gracious and enthusiastic they made it so easy for me to share my passion and enthusiasm for artful applique. You all passed with flying colors and it is always so thrilling to see the improvement from day one until the last day of the workshop!
Tamsin and Sue of Berrima Patchwork made my life seem like that of a queen and I wanted for nothing. Every little detail was taken care of and their efforts made everyone’s experience one of pure happiness. I can’t believe this was only the second year of this event. AMAZING.
My fellow tutors (teachers) at the event were talented masters at their techniques. There was such a friendly bond between us that it was very hard to leave and go home. Not only are they accomplished at what they do and teach, but they are also warm, personable and funny women. (Deb Karasik, Rachelle Denneny, Mariya Waters, Barbara Olson and Yvette Stanton (exquisite embroidery)).
I am always touched when a student brings a project they have completed for me to see. Wendy had stitched the “Little Bird” pattern in my book and framed her finished work. The piece was stunning and she was rightly proud!
I really like the tradition of late morning tea. To actually have a scone with the real “cream” is a fabulous treat. I really wish the Americans had kept that tradition from our British roots.
I still don’t have my brain and body on US west coast time but slowly I am waking up and becoming a fully functional human again. The time and day changes didn’t affect me so much going, it was coming home when I slammed into the wall of jet lag. (Did I mention I miss tea time?)
I told Jason I was traveling through a time portal into the future (Australia is a day ahead). He thought that was pretty cool and told me to be careful. LOL
I will be listing the Center Poppy block (Jason’s Grasshopper) pattern and kits this week. I know I will be shipping 24/7 for the next few weeks so I wanted to be mentally prepared and recovered from the trip!
For those of you in Australia, Berrima Patchwork will now carry my patterns exclusively for retail purchase in Australia. I hope this is good news for those of you in Australia who have been following along with the blocks and requested the other patterns as well.
To my Students at Quilting in the Highlands, Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience and your warm welcome to Australia.
